EDUCATOR
OPENING THE DOOR TO LIBERATION THROUGH EDUCATION
PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY
A Commitment to cultivating a sense of imagination
Dr. Dugan started as an early childhood teacher in Washington, D.C., specializing in kindergarten and first grade. She was instrumental in the early adoption of the International Baccalaureate program at her school and was nominated for Teacher of the Year at Woodridge Elementary in her third year. With a master's degree in curriculum and instruction, she has a deep understanding of classroom pedagogy, literacy development, and nurturing students in schools.
Transitioning to instructional and leadership coaching in California, she gained insights into fostering early teacher effectiveness through her work with first and second year teachers. As a school leader, she prioritized developing student conflict mediation programs, restorative practices, and collaborated on establishing Oakland's first public Mandarin immersion middle school. Guided by excellent mentors, she continually refines her vision for liberatory education, effective instruction, and human-centered leadership.
